The LEAF becomes the first electric car to win prestigious awards, including "European Car of the Year 2011", "World Car of the Year 2011" and "Japan Car of the Year 2011-2012". These accolades solidified the LEAF’s position as a trailblazer in electric mobility.

Nissan introduced the “LEAF to Home” system, an innovative feature allowing owners to use their cars to power their homes during emergencies or peak energy demand, showing how electric cars can support everyday life.

The LEAF became available in over 35 countries, bringing sustainable mobility to a growing number of people worldwide and establishing itself in the electric vehicle market. To support this growth, manufacturing of LEAF for Europe moved to our Sunderland factory in the UK.

The redesigned LEAF combined a sleek, modern design with smarter features, making it more practical and enjoyable for everyday driving. Its advanced technologies enhanced the driving experience, reflecting Nissan’s dedication to innovation and meeting customer needs.

Nissan celebrated a major achievement: 500,000 LEAF vehicles sold globally. This milestone demonstrated the LEAF’s pioneering role as a pioneer and global leader in the transition to electric driving.

A customer panel of over 220,000 UK car owners voted for 2023’s Auto Trader New Car Awards and the Nissan LEAF was selected as the UK’s Best Car for City Drivers that year.

Centered around the advanced plant in Sunderland, UK, Nissan EV36Zero will support our drive to carbon neutrality. Comprised of three interconnected initiatives, Nissan EV36Zero brings together electric vehicles, renewable energy and battery production, setting a blueprint for the future of the automotive industry.
