Nissan Juke 2024 Owners Manual

7.13.2.5. Manual shift mode

Manual shift mode can be selected by pulling a steering wheel gearshift paddle. If the paddle is briefly pulled back, the change to manual shift mode is temporary and lasts for approximately 10 seconds after the last manual gear change. If the paddle is pulled back longer, the manual shift mode will remain set until it is switched off again.

In manual shift mode, the selected gear is displayed on the position indicator in the combination meter. If temporary mode is enabled the selected gear will appear with a "D" (for example "4D"). If permanent mode is enabled the selected gear will appear with an "M" (for example "3M").

Shift ranges up or down one by one as follows:

1st ⇔ 2nd ⇔ 3rd ⇔ 4th ⇔ 5th ⇔ 6th ⇔ 7th

  • When shifting up, pull the right steering wheel gearshift paddle. (Shifts to higher range).

  • When shifting down , pull the left steering wheel gearshift paddle. (Shifts to lower range).

  • Pulling the shift lever rapidly on the same side twice will shift two ranges in succession.

  • To cancel manual shift mode, pull the right hand steering wheel paddle for longer than 1.5 seconds. The transmission returns to the normal driving mode.

  • In manual shift mode, the transmission may not shift to the selected gear under certain circumstances. This helps maintain driving performance and reduces the chance of vehicle damage or loss of control.

  • In manual shift mode, double downshifts or upshifts requested by steering wheel shift paddles will occur within 1 second after the request if conditions are met. If not, gear change refusal sound will be activated.

  • If the engine is revving up to a hazardous speed in manual shift mode, the transmission may shift up automatically. When the vehicle speed decreases, the transmission automatically shifts down and shifts to 1st gear before the vehicle comes to a stop.
