Nissan Juke 2024 Owners Manual
7.13.2.2. Starting the vehicle
Start the engine in the P (Park) or N (Neutral) position with the footbrake depressed. The engine will not start in any other shift lever position.
If you try to start engine with the shift lever in N (Neutral) without the footbrake depressed, the engine will not start and a [Shift to Park] message will be displayed in the vehicle information display.
After starting the engine, fully depress the footbrake pedal before shifting the shift lever from P (Park) to R (Reverse) or D (Drive).
Keep the footbrake pedal depressed and push the shift lever button to shift into a driving gear.
Release the parking brake and footbrake, then gradually start the vehicle in motion by pressing the accelerator pedal. If you don't press the accelerator, the vehicle will start to move slowly.
The Automatic (DCT) transmission is designed so that the footbrake pedal MUST be depressed before shifting from P (Park) to any drive position while the ignition is switched ON.
